Other company, brand, product and restaurant names that may appear on this site, in our materials or in conversations with us are the trademarks of their respective owners. Video analytics and biometrics
GuestMetric uses computer vision to understand how a restaurant operates. Because that involves cameras, we want to be unusually clear about what the product does and does not do.
What it does
- Detects that people are present in defined zones such as a queue, a counter, a kiosk, a pickup area or a drive-thru lane, and counts them.
- Measures time: how long a queue is, how long it takes to reach a cashier, how long an order waits for pickup.
- Recognizes service events: a guest arrived, joined a queue, left a queue without ordering, reached the counter, picked up an order, left.
- Flags operational and safety conditions, such as a long queue, a congested pickup area, a possible slip-and-fall, or activity that a manager should review.
What it does not do
- It does not perform facial recognition, face matching or face search.
- It does not create, collect or store biometric identifiers or biometric information, such as face geometry, fingerprints, voiceprints or iris or retina scans, as those terms are used in laws such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act and similar statutes.
- It does not identify guests or employees by name, and it does not build profiles of individuals across visits or locations.
- It does not estimate age, gender, ethnicity, emotion or other personal characteristics.
- It does not send routine camera video to the cloud. Video is processed on an appliance inside the store and routine video is deleted locally after 30 days.
Saved incident video
A clip is kept beyond 30 days only when a person with permission saves it as part of an incident, for example a safety event or a theft. That action is recorded in an audit log, the clip is accessible only to authorized roles, and it is retained under the customer's policy and applicable law.
Responsibilities
Tekmaze provides GuestMetric to restaurant brands and operators under written agreements and processes data on their behalf. Each customer is responsible for using the product lawfully in the places it operates, including providing any required notices or signage to guests and employees and honoring their rights. We help with guidance and templates and we design the product so that the simplest lawful configuration is the default. Anyone with a question about a specific restaurant's use of GuestMetric should contact that restaurant or brand; we assist our customers in responding.
Audio and conversation analytics
GuestMetric Voice analyzes the service conversation at the front counter and in the drive-thru so operators can understand hospitality, communication, suggestive selling, complaint handling and operational friction. Because it involves microphones, we want to be equally clear about how it works.
What it does
- Performs speech recognition and interaction analysis on an appliance inside the location.
- Classifies observable service behavior: whether a greeting was given, whether a specific recommendation was made and verbally accepted, whether a complaint was acknowledged and resolved, whether a guest asked a question that went unanswered.
- Counts operational phrases, such as an item being unavailable or a payment terminal failing, and surfaces recurring guest questions.
- Sends structured results (categories, counts, timings) to the GuestMetric platform.
What it does not do
- In normal operation it does not send raw audio or full transcripts to the GuestMetric cloud, and full guest conversations are not displayed in the cloud dashboard.
- It does not identify guests by voice, and it does not use employee voiceprints as the default way to identify who was speaking. A voiceprint is a biometric identifier, and GuestMetric does not collect one unless a customer specifically configures and lawfully authorizes a feature that requires it.
- It does not score accents, dialects, speech disabilities, grammar style or personality, and it does not infer what a person is feeling.
- It can be configured so that temporary audio exists only in memory during processing and is discarded afterward.
Optional local recording and incident clips
Where permitted by applicable law and the customer's policies, an authorized operator may enable encrypted local recording for incident review, quality monitoring, authorized training or complaint investigation, and may enable a rolling buffer that preserves a short audio clip around a potential safety event. These features are off by default. When enabled, recordings are timestamped, encrypted, retained for a configurable period, deleted automatically at the end of it, restricted by role, and every access is recorded in an audit log.
Recording capabilities must be configured in accordance with applicable laws, notices, consent requirements and organizational policies. Laws on recording conversations differ by state and country; some require the consent of every party. GuestMetric does not make recording lawful anywhere, and each customer is responsible for determining what is permitted where it operates and for providing any required notices to guests and employees. We provide guidance and templates to help.
Safety events
Where enabled, GuestMetric Voice may flag potential safety events, such as threats, verbal abuse or distress language, as incidents requiring human review. GuestMetric does not guarantee that any event will be detected, does not contact law enforcement, and does not take action on its own; escalation follows the customer's policies.
Illustrative data and estimates
Every product screen, number, store, person and result shown on this site is an illustration created to explain how GuestMetric works. None of it is data from a real customer, and none of it predicts what GuestMetric will find in your locations.
GuestMetric's in-product revenue and opportunity estimates are presented as ranges, together with the events counted, the inputs used, the assumptions made and a confidence level. They exist to help operators prioritize. They are not guarantees of revenue, savings or any other outcome, and they are not financial, legal or investment advice. Actual results depend on your operations, staffing, traffic, pricing and the decisions you make.
The walkout calculator on our homepage performs simple arithmetic on numbers you type in. It runs in your browser, sends nothing to us, and is only a way to think about the size of a problem.
Statements on this site about product capabilities, plans and roadmap reflect our current intentions and may change without notice.
How we will contact you
When you submit the demo request form or email us, you are asking us to get in touch, and you agree that we may contact you about your request by email and by phone at the details you provide. Every marketing email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also email info@guestmetric.com with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line at any time. We never sell your contact details.
Security and responsible disclosure
If you believe you have found a security vulnerability in this website or in a GuestMetric product, please email info@guestmetric.com with "Security" in the subject line and enough detail for us to reproduce the issue. We will acknowledge your report, keep you informed as we investigate, and not take legal action against good-faith research that avoids privacy violations, data destruction and service disruption. Please do not access data that is not yours or share a vulnerability publicly before we have had a reasonable chance to fix it.
